once inch of the fall

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) This is the second effort of this exciting band around the Buzby brothers. Unfortunately, it also marks its premature end. After that, "echolyn" resumed operation with "Cowboy Poems Free". Frankly, I'd rather have seen the release of much more "finneus gauge" stuff, because the subsequent "echolyn" albums up to "The End Is Beautiful" are not among my favorites. "one inch of the fall" sounds a bit more adventurous and less reminiscent of "echolyn" than its predecessor. The songs are once again top-notch (except for "Golden Pretzel", which I usually skip), Scott McGill contributes more of his Allan Holdsworth inspired riffs, and Jonn Buzby's snare drum work always is a delight - check out his albums recorded with "Land Of Chocolate". Note that the download comprises six live versions of tracks from "more once more" as a bonus. Favorite track: Unsinkable You.
